Believe the hype. After much research (and savings), I finally chose the Pioneer 50 “Plasma – shortly before they announced that they were out of business TV, so I started from square one and do not think I could be happier
Sony’s picture is bright, the sound decent for a TV series and I like the speakers “floats” on the side. I have a wall above the fireplace that is wider than it is tall and fit (visually) well. It works perfectly with my Onkyo 7.1 system and up-sampling DVD (have not yet made the leap BluRay) player.
For many features as it is, it was easy to setup and to navigate the menus for selecting inputs, etc.
Did I mention the photos? Out of the box, it was close, but after editing with the Sound and Vision DVD is nothing short of amazing. I find myself watching ESPN’s Sportscenter – do not listen, look!
Even the side-viewing angle is much better than I expected – the only negative might be the reflection of the screen. LCD should be better than plasma, but you can still light sources, in line with the screen (floor lamp, ceiling fan light, etc.). Not a big deal, it only requires some adjustment.
If the quality of the final is worth it for you, this assembly must be in your short list. If you read the reviews here on Amazon, you’ll notice all the relevant observations are five stars. Could not agree more – and not just because I’m trying to justify my purchase

Although the list price for this HDTV would be out of my budget, I bought this incredible flat screen from Amazon for just over $ 2300. In my local electronics store, Sony has been my 2nd favorite (after the Kuro). Samsung LEDs were close behind. What makes this unit ideal for me is the fact that you have fairly decent built-in speakers. I personally hate to have a sound system connected to the TV. I like being able to turn on the TV and go. I made the seller at my local store to demonstrate the built-in audio to make sure that it would be sufficient for my needs. (I was really going to buy there, but have raised the price of one night and I found some incredible prices than Amazon, that saved me over $ 600!) Having been originally thought we would either have to buy a new TV (in replace our dying HDTV projection) and a home theater audio (since none of the new flat screens for all speakers seemed to have more), we were able to put this budget than this TV, however, which is probably one of the best images available.
Now that is installed at home, I am absolutely thrilled! I am more than happy with the built-in audio. I must admit that those who are accustomed to having booming surround sound audio would probably be disappointed, but the overall sound is very nice mid-level for the day for viewing daily. If you turn it on for serious vision BluRay DVD, is pretty impressive as well. The image is really amazing!
I have to give Kudos to Amazon for their customer service as well. The first units were shipped turned out to have a screen cracked inside. The box was damaged and everything seemed fine until fed up. There were huge cracks across the screen (actually a photo of cracks because the outside was nice, only the internal screen of some sort was broken – it was evident that he had been abandoned at some point.) I called Amazon immediately and took care of it quickly and courteously and we now have our beautiful new TV. Yes, I would have preferred was a perfect drive the first time outside, but the money we have saved over buying from our local superstore has been more than worth it.
